This is an interesting mix of stories. There's one story - of schoolyard bullying and how dangerous and detrimental it actually can be to teenagers, and there's another story - rather like Orange is the New Black - a young woman thrown into prison and totally unprepared for that life. Finally, there's a third story, what happens when she gets out of prison and sets out to not only find her life again, but to still find out what actually did happen to her sister - who we are sure from the onset she did not kill. All three stories are intriguing on different levels and there's a real twist at the end.
Toni is not necessarily a likable character - but you feel her pain the entire way through the novel.

As a teenager, Toni Murphy had a life full of typical adolescent complications: a boyfriend she adored, a younger sister she couldn’t relate to, a strained relationship with her parents, and classmates who seemed hell-bent on making her life miserable.
